Martin Lund

Martin Lund (formerly Bernhardson) is a Quaternary geologist specialising in geomorphology, GIS (geographic information system) and remote sensing. Martin’s PhD thesis concerned the Aeolian dunes of central Sweden and how these can be used as a palaeoenvironmental archive.

Martin’s current research is focused on constraining sedimentary and geomorphic processes and rates of landscape change that influence the surface evolution of planets.  Basaltic aeolian systems on Earth are investigated as analogues for landscape evolution on Mars, using topography data and state-of-the-art hyperspectral sensors mounted on UAVs, as well as more traditional sedimentologic and stratigraphic techniques.
