Exciting news - Hedda Andersson guest professorship

We are very pleased to announce that Prof Anna Godhe from the University of Gothenburg has been awarded a Hedda Andersson guest professorship at our department. Godhe is a biologist by training but has a very broad background. Her main research interests include the role of phytoplankton life-cycle stages (diatoms and dinoflagellates), population genetic of phytoplankton, and interactions between different trophic levels in the pelagic environment. Her projects are typical cross-disciplinary and involve collaborations with geologists, molecular biologists, and ecotoxicologists.

We see this as a great opportunity to work more closely with the aquatic ecologists up at Biology and also an opportunity to further explore analytical approaches using eDNA (environmental DNA) from different sediment records and how to unravel past biodiversity and ecosystem functioning using these new tools.

Lund University created a Visiting scholar Professorship in 2009 in memory of Hedda Andersson. Within the Hedda Professorship year Jan-Dec 2019 we will also arrange a number of activities for early career scientists in collaboration with WINGS and the office of External Relations at LU.
